The Venturi is a hydraulic device designed for evaluating instantaneous flow rate in pipes of rectangular cross section.
Its operating principle is based on increasing the liquid level before a choke point, and the subsequent change in that level, detected through a transmitter, allows the flow rate to be estimated. This instrument is highly valued for its ease of installation.
In the case of flow measurements in open channels, a hydraulic modeler is used, combined with a RIL390 ultrasonic probe to determine the liquid level, and a RIF990 control unit that can connect up to two MODBUS ultrasonic level sensors. This configuration allows for two independent and simultaneous flow rate readings.
The use of a data logger on a removable PenDrive facilitates the examination of temporal variations in instantaneous flow rates. This system is particularly advantageous for ensuring complete traceability of measurements in open channels.
